Sorry, this art holiday is now fully booked.

Rydal Hall, Cumbria

A stunning location situated in 34 acres of woodland, Rydal Hall offers creative inspirational views all year round with such beautiful landscape on the doorstep and also within the wonderful grounds themselves - perfect for our exciting mixed media residential art holiday in the heart of The Lake District!

Autumn in the Lake District – how fantastic! The season brings beautiful glowing colours to Cumbria – especially close to Rydal Hall.

This fantastic mixed media watercolour and pastel Autumn art break in the heart of Lakeland allows you to explore lots of different painting techniques in some of the most beautiful scenery in Lakeland.

Painting along the picturesque lakeshore of Rydal Water, overlooking the lovely stone built boat house across the beautiful reflective waters in the overhanging Autumn trees  - quite superb!

We will also be painting the tumbling Lakeland waters at Skelwith Bridge close to Ambleside (weather permitting), travelling the short distance away in shared cars to have another rewarding inspirational days painting in the heart of Cumbria. At our location is 'Chesters by the river' with their amazing hot chocs and scones!

Combining further paintings in the bright, warm and cosy studio at Rydal Hall, we will be creating lots more exciting mixed media paintings and drawings from our other afternoons and mornings spent in the beautiful woodlands and tranquil grounds at Rydal Hall too.

This art holiday is perfect for students with some previous experience who want to explore a more contemporary and looser expressionistic style in their work with a variety of media combining indoor and outdoor painting experiences. Sorry, but this art holiday is not suited for beginners.

Rydal Hall most certainly has top class accommodation, great food, a superb and stimulating learning environment and with expert and professional tuition in a relaxed and informative style which creates a really rewarding creative art break for everyone!

A popuar art holiday at Rydal Hall and  with places limited to 12 students maximum (to ensure a quality learning experience on this inspirational art break second to none), early booking is strongly recommended.

I have had some time to think over the course you ran, and I'm still of the opinion that it was pretty much excellent - enthusiastic, individually tailored, aspirational. I'd like to thank you for the considerable effort you clearly put into it, and for the inspiration that I got out of it.- DR - Sunderland

I thoroughly enjoyed your workshop and I was pleased with my first attempt at a pastel landscape with a lot of help and guidance from you! It was a revelation to me to learn this new freer technique and I am keen to do further workshops and residential art breaks with you. Thanks so much Robert- RC – Pickering

I've just looked at the photos and am so impressed by all our work.- VS – North Yorkshire

Your presentation was inspirational, informative as well as humorous. As a result, I believe that some Club members and some of the visitors (of whom there were quite a few) will again take up their pastels based on your demo. Thanks Robert!- MR – Leeds, West Yorkshire

Thank you for your interesting and informative demonstration this morning. I have never really tried pastels so I found your talk and style of working most interesting. I am sure that I will give them a try, having seen how you produced such a bright, lively picture in such a short space of time – teaching us all the way through! - DR - Leeds, West Yorkshire
