November 2019 Lakeland Expressive Mixed Media Art Holiday
4 places left only!
Rydal Hall, Cumbria
A stunning location situated in 34 acres of woodland, Rydal Hall offers creative inspirational views all year round with such beautiful landscape on the doorstep and also within the wonderful grounds themselves - perfect for our exciting mixed media residential art holiday in the heart of The Lake District!
A great mixed media art holiday awaits in this beautiful part of The Lake District on the outskirts of Ambleside for Autumn '19. You'll be staying at Rydal Hall set amids the halls very own 40 acres of tranquil landscape and close to Rydal Water lake which looks spectacular at this time of the year. All are superb inspirational subjects for your 'get away from it all' Autumn art week here in Lakeland!
Using mixed media - Watercolour, Pastel, Acrylic Inks, Charcoal and Gouache we will creatively explore and paint the woodlland, flowing mountain streams, mature and well tended gardens at Rydal Hall. We will also venture a little further from Rydal hall itself to walk the short distance to Rydal Water to paint and draw the beautiful glowing Autumn landscape and colours reflected in this tranquil Lake - Wordsworths' favourite and by art students too!
The newly refurbished warm, well lit, very spatious and cosy historical old barn on site at Rydal Hall (close to the main hall) will be our 'art den' for your exciting and creativly stimulating art holiday. With the art courses I run at Rydal Hall now outgrowing the main building, the barn has become really popular with artists as the extra space meaning artists can spread out and 'do their thing' in a truely creative environment.
You will learn lots of art techniques throughout your art holiday staying in your superb accommodation with great food, regular breaks with light refreshments, great packed lunches for our days out close to Rydal Hall.
This really is a relaxed ‘get away from it all’ friendly, learning environment and with such inspirational landscape all around us, no wonder it so popular with so many artists!
The art holiday is perfect for improvers, intermediate level artists and upwards (sorry, not suitable for complete beginners), who are looking for a new direction and who wish to paint with a looser more expressive and contemporary style of painting.
This is a very popular course so early booking is highly recommended to secure your place.
Last year the course was oversubscribed with 20 students. This year we are restricting the number to 16 so places really are limited and do fill quickly.
Outdoor painting experiences at Rydal Water and within Rydal Hall grounds (weather permitting). Level of fitness needed - moderate.
Regular art demonstrations and one to one tuition each day.
A great holiday to get away from it all, relax, unwind and learn lots of different contemporary art techniques with Watercolour, Gouache, Acrylic ink, Pastel and Charcoal.
Class numbers restricted to 18 students only (with plenty of space for everyone painting and spreading out in the newly referbished warm, well lit barn) to ensure maximum learning ability for all.
Half day off to explore The lake District National Park during the course - guides and advice given were needed

I have had some time to think over the course you ran, and I'm still of the opinion that it was pretty much excellent - enthusiastic, individually tailored, aspirational. I'd like to thank you for the considerable effort you clearly put into it, and for the inspiration that I got out of it.- DR - Sunderland
I thoroughly enjoyed your workshop and I was pleased with my first attempt at a pastel landscape with a lot of help and guidance from you! It was a revelation to me to learn this new freer technique and I am keen to do further workshops and residential art breaks with you. Thanks so much Robert- RC – Pickering
