OCTOBER 2024 - Expressive mixed media at Rydal Hall

Rydal Hall, Rydal, Cumbria
Bookings now being taken!

Autumn in The Lake District is an espercially inspirational time of the year - especially for artists. Colours just glow! With 34 acres of stunning countryside within the Rydal Hall 'estate', complete with waterfalls, tumbling and dramatic mountain becks, mature formal gardens, woodland and so much more, painting subjects are everywhere!

The inspirational Lakeland landscape is the theme for this exciting '23 mixed media contemporary art holiday and is always a popular one. This great 'get away from it all' art break really has it all!

We will be using different media on this art holiday in terms of drawing and painting and mixing studio and outdoor painting experiences (weather permitting) during your inspirational art week and is perfect for students who want to further develop their creative skills to new and exciting levels in lots of rewarding ways.

Exciting NEW course activities will be happening for your 2024 art holiday at Rydal Hall!  We will be painting and visiting new painting locations in the Lake District National Park (taken by mimibus) on several outings during the week to be inspired by the dramatic landscape that is Lakeland. It matters not if you are an experienced outdoor en plein air artist or not, by relating directly to subject your studio work is much stronger as a result and i will show you exctly how.

I will teach you how to push your skills onto the next level - especially with a more looser and contemporary approach both outdoors and in the studio at Rydal Hall.

There will be a pastel day, a drawing day and mixed media days during your inspirational art week creating painting with real strength, depth and you will develop much more in confidence and creative approach each and every day.

By working both in the studio and outdoors (weather permitting) painting waterfalls, mountain streams and lake reflections from all sorts of references, each student will learn how to blend direct resposes to nature with engaging studio paintings that will inspire creative development with their own style and artistic directions.

Please note: This course is not for beginners as art techniques are too advanced. The art holiday is aimed at artists with some previous painting and drawing experience who are seeking a more expressive looser approach with their work.
