10 October 2026 Hillside wild flower fields with Derwent Inktense - Hovingham Village Hall, North Yorkshire

Hovingham Village Hall

HILLSIDE WILD FLOWER FIELDS WORKSHOP WITH DERWENT INKTENSE
SATURDAY 1O OCTOBER 2026
Hovingham Village Hall, North Yorkshire
10.00am - 4.00pm

NEW AND EXCITING WAYS of using Derwent Inktense media (sticks and pencils provided) await this Autumn  for this workshop at Hovingham Village Hall.

This is a great opportunity for you to explore and create an expressive, loose and atmospheric painting of wildflower meadow - a joy to paint! This workshop gives you the chance to use the media with real expression and creative freedom.

The versatile and easy to use media of Derwent Inktense (24 colours to use per student during the workshop) is both a painting and drawing media too.

Think watercolour, ink and a pastel all in one. This is Derwent Inktense! We will both paint and draw with the media in lots of creative ways during this full day workshop creating paintings with real depth and sumptuous colour.

It is no wonder Derwent Inktense is so popular with so many artists and this workshop is your opportunity to find out why!

About your workshop
An exciting workshop exploring the full potential of the versatile Derwent Inktense media as 'blocks' and watersoluble pencils (provided for use during the workshop) as a watercolour and wash media creating glazes, semi opaque and opaque layering (similar to gouache), pastel type techniques (using the Inktense sticks dry) and structure drawing with detail using Inktense pencils too.

Suitable for artists with some experience who want to develop skills a lot more with painting, pastel and drawing media, artists who want to develop a looser approach to painting and for more experienced artists wanting to refresh their style with new and exciting directions.

Your subject for this workshop is based on the theme of wildflower meadows and wildflower fields. Bring with you any seasonal aspect of a the subject with you (or several) with your own photo reference to work from. I may have a few references of local Rydale fields close to where I live in the village of Nunnington, but they may not be to your liking. The best idea is to bring your own as mine references cannot be taken away.

Paintings shown are the type of paintings in markmaking and expression we will be doing.

The media is provided to use during the workshop but cannot be taken away.

Please note - but this workshop is not suitable for pure beginners as the techniques taught may well be too advanced. If in doubt, please do get in touch and we can discuss if the course is suitable for you. I want you to get the best out of the day and from yourself too.

Early booking IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as places are limited to just 12 students only!

Hovingham Village Hall

Lunch
Lunch is not included in this workshop so please bring your own packed lunch if you wish.
However, there are several great food venues in the village if you don't want to bring your own. The local Hovingham Bakery, which is a short walk away from the hall, has a wide range of good sandwiches and cakes to choose from.
