'EXPRESSIVE MOORLAND' WORKSHOP WITH DERWENT INKTENSE
SATURDAY 18 OCTOBER 2025
Hovingham Village Hall, North Yorkshire
10.00am - 4.00pm

NEW AND EXCITING WAYS of using Derwent Inktense media (sticks and pencils provided throughout the workshop) await in this Autumn seasons workshop at Hovingham Village Hall.

The emphasis will be on the experimental and the creative freedom of expression on different surface papers you choose to bring with you, rather than just one  single finished painting to work on throughout the workshop.

Your subject for this workshop is based on the theme of moorland - the larger big open landcape for looser tonal work to other moorland subjects with a focus on textures and expression and colour combinations! Several paintings will be produced - be prepaired to switch and develop several at the same time!

About the Workshop
An exciting workshop exploring the full potential of the versatile Derwent Inktense media with watercolour and wash techniques, opaque layering (similar to gouache), pastel type techniques (using the Inktense sticks dry) and structure drawing and detail with Inktense pencils!

We will work black and white Inktense and with creative coloured Inktense combinations too during the full days workshop!

Suitable for artists with some experience who want to develop skills a lot more with painting, pastel and drawing media, artists who want to develop a looser approach to painting and for more experienced artists wanting to refresh their style with new and exciting directions.

The media is provided to use during the workshop but cannot be taken away.

Please note - but this workshop is not suitable for pure beginners as the techniques taught may well be too advanced. If in doubt, please do get in touch and we can discuss if the course is suitable for you. I want you to get the best out of the day and from yourself too.

Early booking IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as places are limited to just 12 students only!
