No one can dispute the beauty and therapeutic nature of lavender has played its part. Yorkshire Lavender has hundreds of different lavender and herb varieties to admire around the lavender farm (and also to buy) in our specialist plant nursery.
In summer, the lavender with its stunning array of different colours, from white through a complete range of blues, lilacs to magnificent deep purples, along with the range of distinct and heady scents, is a wonderful experience and just great to paint!
Created from our own Yorkshire Lavender Oil, extracted from the lavender plants grown on our farm, these lavender based products are very popular!
Duration of your workshop
This exclusive full day workshop will be from 10.30am to 3.30pm with an hour for lunch between your relaxed painting sessions
What happens if it rains?
There are purpose built roomy gazebos we can shelter or retreat to in the advent of inclement conditions. With open sides we will still have great views of painting subjects and of course, the Lavender itself. Many successful workshops at Yorkshire Lavender and run from here with ample seating and large tables. We will be outdoors of course!
What to bring
There is no dictate as to what to bring to paint with. I shall leave this entirely up to you. I’m fully conversant in all media so what you choose to bring to paint and draw with, you will most certainly gain great experience and tuition from. It might be a familiar media or for the more adventurous something new entirely or what you want to gain more insight and experience with.
Try to bring things which are easy to carry - there is no need to bring the kitchen sink! For artists who want simply to sketch when amongst the lavender them a small stool is advised (plenty of places to sit though around the gardens for other view points). A sketch pad and other chosen equipment that fits easily into a small back pack is advised. I shall work upright from an easy fold away easel and using pastels in a folding pastel box. When pastel painting I use fixative. You may want to bring some if you want to work with pastels too.
I shall be demonstrating and painting with soft pastels in two sessions - 30 minutes (maximum) per session, one in the morning and another in the afternoon straight after lunch. The media is quick and easy to use and ideal for the locality and of course, perfect for you learn from and maximise your painting time during the day.
