EXPRESSIVE WORKSHOP WITH DERWENT INKTENSE AND PASTELS AND DRAWING MEDIA
SATURDAY 26 OCTOBER 2024
Hovingham Village Hall, North Yorkshire
10.00am - 4.00pm

About the Workshop

This workshop will teach you how to use the versatile media of Derwent Inktense (24 colour sticks provided worth £62 provided) with your own soft pastel and drawing media (such as charcoal, graphite sticks and blocks) to create real mixed media expressive paintings!

I use all these different media in combination regualrly and it's going to be great to show you too how effective and exciting different media ar to use together to create really expressive paintings!

I will teach you how different media responds on several papers for different landscape and moorland subjects and demonstrate their exciting effects for creative expression.

Derwent inktense has the advantage of remaining permanent and lightfast when dry when used as paint. Coloured underpainting form the parfect base on which to develop richly layered paintings full of interest and expression. the coloursed sticks work brilliantly 'dry' too with soft pastel. All will be reveralled and learned when you join the workshop.

Bring different papers with you and you too will be able to enjoy the way your ideas are quickly and easily translated  - especially in our more experimental, natural and instinctive way.

The approach is direct, impressionistic and expressive. The skills demonstrated will be mixed and varied so that you can gain confidence when faced with your own subjects on the workshop and in the future too. You can bring along to the workshops references from locations that personally inspire you and you have always wanted to paint and create.

Exciting, easy to follow and enriching painting techniques is what this workshop is all about. The various Inktense pastel and mixed drawing skills learned during the entire workshop will give you the confidence to move forward with your own artistic development in leaps and bounds both during the workshop and in the future too.

With regular demonstrations, group and one to one tuition throughout the day you will learn A LOT! I will show you how to work quickly creating several pastel and mixed drawing media paintings at the same time using visually exciting overlays, clean and contrasting colour mixing and so much more.

If you have ever wanted to create real depth in your mixed media paintings and see how effective combining media together is, this workshop is for you!

Sorry, but this workshop is not suitable for pure beginners as the techniques taught may well be too advanced. If in doubt, please do get in touch and we can discuss if the course is suitable for you. I want you to get the best out of the day and from yourself too.

Early booking IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as places are limited to just 10 students only
