14 October ‘22 - Autumn trees and fields with Derwent Inktense - Hovingham Village Hall, North Yorkshire

Hovingham Village Hall, North Yorkshire

ATMOSPHERIC AUTUMN TREES AND FIELDS
DERWENT INKTENSE WORKSHOP 14 OCTOBER 2022
Hovingham Village Hall, North Yorkshire
10am - 4.30pm

About the Workshop

This workshop has been created for artists with some experience with watercolour and those with a little more advanced painting experiences (perhaps with other media) who want to develop their creative style in a loose, impressionistic and expressive way.

Using the colourful and vibrant 'Derwent Inktense' sticks and pencils (24 colour set provided for each participant), you will explore layering, colur mixing, painting and colour drawing techniques to create a wonderful Autumn woodland or Autumn landscape - the choice id yours!

You will learn to create real depth and distance in your paintings using inspirational reference of the beautiful fields and country lanes within Ryedale I have got to know which are close to Hovingham and Nunnington here in North Yorkshire.

Derwent Inktense is magical and so easy to use - colours resonate with this beautiful free flow media in each and every painting. With regular demonstrations, group and one to one tuition throughout the day you will experience how wonderful the media is to use to create your own paintings full of expression and colour.

A very popular workshop as you can imagine, especially as materials to use are included in the price in this exciting workshop!

Early booking IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as places are limited to just 14 students only

Overview
With regular step by step demonstrations I will teach you how to fully explore the painting and drawing posibilities with Derwent Inktense - one of my favourite painting media! The workshop will also help you build confidence with applying and mixing colours in layers, composition and further understanding of what makes a painting really work together with brush handling...and so much more!

The exciting creative techniques you will learn during this workshop you will be able to apply to other subjcts as you move forward and develop as artists after the workshop, not just with Derwent Inktense.

As a Derwent Associate Artist I have lots of experience with Derwent Inktense (and other media too), having organised and run lots of successful workshops encouraging participants the confidence to further develop their own styles in lots of exciting new directions with these subjects, and others too.

Using good quality photographs as painting reference to work from (provided or...bring your own if you wish),  I will show you how to translate what you see into paintings that will be colourful, atmospheric, expressive and much more than a literal copy of subject. Loose, energetic and expressive mark making is what this workshop is all about in this exciting workshop!

Your top class watercolour paper is also provided  (half imperial size 15 x 21 inch) top quality 300gsm (140lb) 'not' cotton rich watercolour paper

Hovingham Village Hall
Hovingham village Hall is a clean, bright, well lit and well appointed, warm and spacious village hall and is ideal for our workshop! There is a large kitchen with all the facilities, toilets etc, modern folding tables etc and comfortable chairs for use during the workshop - plenty of room to spread out and thoroughly enjoy your day in comfortable surroundings. Everything you need is here!

There is ample parking space at the village hall and with plenty of on street parking close to the village hall also (which is free) providing plenty of space for everyone to be near the hall.

Lunch
Lunch is not included in this workshop so please bring your own packed lunch if you wish.

However, there are several great choices for food in the village if you don't want to bring your own. The local Hovingham Bakery which is a short walk away from the hall, has a wide range of great sandwiches and cakes to choose from. There is a great tea shop opposite the village hall, The Hovingham Inn or the Worsley Arms as well in the village if you want to have a sit down meal or light lunch - but, please be mindful of the time. The village store (again close to Hovingham Village Hall) also has a range of snacks and food items to choose from too. Plenty of choices!

I'm really looking forward to teaching you some great art techniques in this wonderful relaxed yet informative workshop, inspiring you to create really exciting paintings with this most versatile media.
